How Cavioo works
Short answers to the questions people ask first. Can’t find yours? Write to us.
What an audit does
You give Cavioo a website address and describe a task, such as “find a return flight from Madrid to Lisbon and reach the payment page”. A robot opens the site in a real browser and walks that journey step by step, taking a picture of every screen it passes.
Each screen is then checked for problems that make the task harder: unclear wording, confusing layouts, missing reassurance, accessibility barriers and slow pages. You get a report with every finding ranked by how serious it is, the screenshot that proves it, and a recommendation for fixing it.
The robot never enters card details and never pays for anything.
How long an audit takes
Most audits take 20 to 40 minutes from start to finished report. A short journey can be done in about 10 minutes; a long one, or one that waits for you to help, can take an hour or more.
You don’t need to keep the page open. The audit carries on without you, and the report appears in your Audits list when it’s ready.
What the scores mean
Each report has a score from 0 to 100, made up of five parts: Task success, Clarity, Trust, Accessibility and Performance. The same fixed set of checks runs on every audit, so two audits of the same site can be compared fairly.
- Healthy 75–100
- Sound journey. What is left is polish, not risk.
- Needs work 60–74
- Works, with clear friction worth scheduling.
- At risk 45–59
- Repeated failures on the paths that matter.
- Critical 0–44
- Users are being lost or misled. Fix before anything else.
A problem serious enough to stop people finishing the task puts a ceiling on the score, however good the rest of the site is. A check the robot never reached is marked “Not examined”: it doesn’t count for or against the score.
When the robot asks for your help
Some steps need a person: signing in, typing a code sent to a phone, or proving you’re not a robot. When the robot reaches one, the audit pauses and the audit’s page tells you what to do.
- Open the live view and take over the browser.
- Do the step, exactly as you would on your own computer.
- Press “I’m done — resume”. The robot carries on from where you left it.
If you’re not on the page, Cavioo emails you. If nobody takes over in time, the robot skips that step and the report says so.
When a journey needs an account, the robot can usually create a test account of its own. If the site needs your account, take over and sign in yourself: Cavioo never sees your password, only that you’re signed in.
How credits work
- One credit covers an audit of up to 25 screens. A screen is each distinct page or state the robot captures along the journey.
- A longer journey uses a second credit automatically from screen 26, up to 50 screens.
- Past 50 screens, the audit pauses and asks you before it uses a third credit, for up to 75 screens in total. No audit uses more than three credits. If you don’t answer, it finishes there.
- If you run out of credits during an audit, it pauses the same way and asks what you’d like to do.
- A typical audit uses 1–2 credits, depending on how many screens the journey captures.
- If an audit fails or can’t produce a scored report, every credit it used comes back automatically. The Terms of Service list exactly when.
Every new account gets one free audit. The robot walks your whole journey and photographs every screen, then you choose one page and get its full findings. The other screens stay locked until you buy a full audit. Plans, credit packs and prices are on the pricing page.
